Our Mission

The mission of the United Way of Adams County is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community.

Our Vision

We oppose all forms of racial/ethnic discrimination.
We recognize structural racism, ethnic discrimination and other forms of oppression have contributed to racial disparities that have existed in the past and persist into the present. We acknowledge those inequities are the result of policies and practices that work to marginalize entire populations of people. We unequivocally denounce racism/ethnic discrimination because it undermines the well-being and vitality of our communities. Our network seeks to dismantle disparities and strives to engage residents and community members, especially those whose voices have traditionally been marginalized, in the shared work of fortifying equity and empowerment. We work with public and private partners to co-create solutions that ensure everyone has the resources, support, opportunities and networks they need to thrive. We commit to leveraging our assets to create more equitable communities.

We believe that caring changes lives.
That belief is at the heart of everything we do at UWAC. We are committed to delivering effective programs and finding solutions to local problems. Our unique approach mobilizes human service agencies, businesses, government, volunteers, and other organizations to build caring communities. We identify critical issues, raise money and resources partner with agencies that meet issues head-on, and measure the impact we’ve made.

We make good things happen.
Throughout Adams County, good things happen when you give to UWAC. More children are ready to learn when they enter school. At-risk youth teamed with caring adults stay in school. Senior citizens receive the home and health care services they need to live independently. The result? A better quality of life for all of us, especially the most vulnerable members of our communities.
We bring resources together.
While UWAC is known for mobilizing volunteers and donors to advance the work of health and human service agencies, we also activate resources beyond the agencies we fund:
• We’re the local fiscal agent for federal Emergency Food and Shelter Programs.• We’re the toy workshop for the Holiday Family Outreach.• We’re the broker for countless in-kind items collected during the Martin Luther King, Jr., Day On Project.• And we’re the Adams County Volunteer Connection. Your gift to United Way of Adams County’s Community Care Fund makes all this—and much more!—possible. Please support the United Way campaign generously. Your investment in caring will change lives and communities.
